Scheveningen
Scheveningen Beach is the most popular beach resort in the Netherlands. Long sandy beaches, shops, bars, restaurants, attractions, the pier, the lighthouse and the boulevard guarantee lots of fun! Scheveningen consists of harbor and beach area, both areas are very popular by tourists. In the harbor you can find many restaurants and bars and enjoy lots of fresh seafood. North of the harbor you can find the most popular beach area with lots of beach bars, terraces, restaurants and the pier and the boulevard. Lots of hip and young people visit this area, but many families are attracted to this area as well. South of the harbor you will find more quiet beaches that are more family oriented.
The area north of the harbor gets very crowded on a hot day and it will be very difficult to find a parking spot if you come by car. It will even be difficult to find a free spot at the beach, so you have to come early! The good thing is that you can visit Scheveningen all day long, from early in the morning till late in the evening.
In addition to relax at the beach you can stroll along the nice boulevard with many fun attractions like a carrousel, mini-scooters, bouncers and arcade games. There are many booths where you can buy fresh seafood including some very nice local specialties. Furthermore you can visit the mega cinema, the casino, the theatre, the bowling, the indoor shopping mall and the big Sealife aquarium, where you can see sharks, stingrays, sea turtles and other fish. At the pier you can walk over the sea , enjoy the shops and visit the lookout tower. You can also climb the Scheveningen lighthouse and enjoy the view over the beach.
In the evening people leave the beach and move to the bars and restaurants along the boulevard. Nightlife in Scheveningen is very good and continues till late in the night!
During the year there are all kinds of festivals in Scheveningen with the International Fireworks festival as one of the highlights. Most people visit Scheveningen on a hot day in summer but there are enough attractions to visit Scheveningen any day in the year.

Scheveningen is a district in The Hague, 30 km north of Rotterdam. You can easily get there by taking the train from Rotterdam Central Station or lightrail from Rotterdam Hofplein to The Hague Central Station. At The Hague Central Station you can take tram 1, 9, 11 or bus 21, 22, 23 to Scheveningen.
If you come by car you have to take highway A13 with direction Den Haag. Close to The Hague you will take highway A12 (directions Den haag Centrum). When you are in The Hague you need to follow the signs to Scheveningen. On most locations you are not allowed to park your car in the streets without a parking license, but you can park your car in one of the many parkings. On sunny days it might be very difficult to find a parking lot though and it might be better to use oublic transport.
