Rotterdam Marathon
Rotterdam Marathon is a popular road marathon and the biggest marathon in the Netherlands, which attracts many top runners. The marathon has been ranked as one of the top 10 marathons in the world by Runner's World! Rotterdam Marathon popularity among top runners is explained by the very fast track, that produces very fast times every year. Rotterdam has been the world record holder between 1985 and 1998. The record was first held by Carlos Lopes with a time of 2:07:12 and since 1988 by Belayneh Dinsamo with a time of 2:06:50. The current course record is 2:04:27 held by Duncan Kibet. So if you want to see the best runners in the world trying to break the world record you have to visit Rotterdam Marathon! Or you can participate yourself and feel what's like to get cheered by the crowd on your way to the finish in one of the best marathon tracks in the world! You can register yourself for the Rotterdam Marathon about a year before the start on the Rotterdam Marathon internet site.

DIRECTIONS Rotterdam Marathon
The Rotterdam marathon track goes through all of the city of Rotterdam. The start and finish are in the center at the Coolsingel and this is where it gets very crowded! After their start the runners go over the Eramusbrug to visit the South of Rotterdam and come back to the North over the same bridge again. Then they go to the East of Rotterdam and run through the Kralingse Bos and back to Rotterdam center to finsih at the Coolsingel as fast as possible!
DATES Rotterdam Marathon
The Rotterdam Marathon is a yearly event that takes place on a Sunday in April. The next edition is scheduled for 5th April 2009. The marathon starts at 11:00 hrs at the Coolsingel in Rotterdam Center.The best athletes finish just after 13:00 hrs but the finish will remain open till the end of the afternoon.
