Inline skate tour through the streets of Rotterdam

The Wednesday Night Skate in Rotterdam with its 50,000 participants is Benelux biggest inline and roller skate tour with a length of 12.5 km through Rotterdam city. This blade night takes place on six Wednesday evenings in July and August and every skater can join for free! You do not need to be an expert skater to participate, as the pace is moderate. The best way to skate is on smooth tarmac, so the streets in down town Rotterdam are temporarily closed to traffic. During the last ride of the season you can even skate on Maasboulevard! The 90 minute Wednesday Night Skate tour begins at 7:30 pm at the market square Binnenrotte. You can also join the tour half way and travel back by public transport, but note that you are not allowed to travel by public transport with your skates on...

Buying skates in Rotterdam

If you come to Rotterdam, be sure to have your skates with you! If you don't have skates yet, you can buy a pair at Rotterdam's best inline and roller skating specialty store, namely RSI The Attraction (Witte de Withstraat 57). Also Daka ( Coolsingel 48 and in the Alexandrium Mall) and Perry Sport ( Lijnbaan 98) have a wide range of skates.

After skate party in Rotterdam

While skating, you'll be accompanied by trucks with dance music. Young and old enjoy the casual and relaxed atmosphere; for some reason people get along very well during an evening of skating. Therefore, the tour has a new slogan: We Skate. Megastad FM (93.9 FM) also makes a live radio report of the Wednesday Night Skate in Rotterdam. Around 9:00 pm the skate tour returns at Binnenrotte, where the après skate party begins. This is a big dance event with various DJs every week (Skate Jam), live performances and BMX demonstrations. On the last evening there is a Roller Disco like in the seventies with groovy music and candy girls. Café Pol, Café van Zanten, Vapiano serve draft beer at their outdoor bars.
