Lantaren / Venster (also called L/V) is a small art cinema and theatre in the centre of Rotterdam. There are four small intimate screens in the theatre. They show non-commercial films from the alternative circuit and focus on independently made films with usually lesser-know actors.L/V's programme includes new releases of art movies mainly from Europe and Asia. All movies are carefully selected and give insight in new worlds. There are expiremental movies, movies with new talents or amateurs and movies with big names and all of them are very special. In additon to the new releases you can enjoy film classics and documentaries in L/V. There's also a special inspiring programme for kids, that usually doesn't include the Disney movies that you can see in the mega cinemas. Every monday evening you can enjoy a sneak preview in L/V and see a movie that hasn't been broadly released yet.
There's a very nice café included in the cinema / theatre where you can have a drink before or after the movie. During weekends the café is open till late and a dj plays music.
You can buy tickets for L/V at their sales office or make a reservation for one of the movies by phone or at their website. A reservation guarantees your ticket but you still need to go to the sales offcie to pick up the tickets. Please have a look at the L/V website to see which movies are running now!
Lantaren / Venster will move to a new venue at the end of 2009. This venue will be located at the South bank close to Hotel New York and the New Luxor theatre.

The first movie on Sundays starts around 13:00 hrs.

Lantaren / Venster is located in city center at the Gouvernestraat 133. You can easily get there by taking tram 5 or the metro to Eendrachtsplein and walk from there.
If you come by car you can park your car in one of the streets but there are not a lot of parking spots and you will have to pay. It might be better to park in the Westblaak parking and walk from there.
