New Luxor Theatre Rotterdam
The New Luxor theatre is a prominent appearance at the foot of the Erasmus bridge with it’s striking design. The theatre designed by Peter Wilson was built in 2001 and was intended to replace the Old Luxor theatre in city center but at present both theatres are used for performances. The New Luxor theatre is used for performing arts, comedy, concerts, plays, dance, ballet, opera but also for large productions like the Miserables, Cats, Titanic and Evita that are running for a long time. Â
Within the theatre there are three different seating areas containing more than 1500 seats, which makes the New Luxor theatre the biggest theatre in Rotterdam. Just in front of the stage you can find the stalls and above the stalls there are two balconies.
Before the start of the performance you can enjoy a great view from the lobby at Rotterdam’s landmark the Erasmus bridge or at the Rijnhaven harbor. At sunny days you can enjoy a drink at the terrace at the top of the building. The theatre includes a fine restaurant called Leipzig where you can enjoy a nice dinner before the performance starts. You need to make a reservation to make sure you’ve got a table.
At every first Saturday of the month you can join the architecture walk through the theatre and get a peek behind the scenes. A guide tells you eveyrthing about the building, the history of the theatre and anything that you would like to know. Please contact the theatre to get more information and to make a reservation.

DIRECTIONS New Luxor Theatre Rotterdam
The New Luxor Theatre is located at the South bank of Rotterdam right at the foot of the Erasmus bridge at Posthumalaan 1. You can easily get there by taking metro or tram 20, 23 or 25 to Wilhelminaplein.
If you come by car you can park your car in one of the streets but you will have to pay. You can also park your car in the World Port Center parking and walk from there.
