Old Luxor Theatre Rotterdam
The stylish Old Luxor theatre is the oldest theatre in the Netherlands. The theatre designed by P. Vermaas was opened in 1917 and was mainly used to show movies at that time. It’s one of the few buildings in city center that survived the Blitz during the 2nd world war. After a renovation when the 2nd world war was over the theatre was used for performing arts in addition to movies. Since then many famous artists and theatre groups have performed in this charming theatre and you can feel the rich history when you take a seat in the historic ambiance.
There are three ranks in the theatre consisting of more than 900 seats including a number of loveseats that can be shared by two people. The theatre programma is very diverse so you can see almost eveyrthing here varying from comedy to opera and from musicals to theatre concert.
Even though the Old Luxor theatre is one of the most well known theatres in the Netherlands there was a need for a new, more modern and bigger theatre in Rotterdam. Therefore the New Luxor theatre was opened in 2001 but the Old Luxor theatre was never closed. There are still many performances in the theatre and currently there are even plans to extend the theatre.

The Old Luxor Theatre is located in the middle of city center at Kruiskade 10 close to city hall. You can easily get there by taking metro or tram 7, 8, 21 or 23 to Stadhuis.
If you come by car you can park your car in the Kruiskade - Stad Rotterdam parking.
