Visit the Fortress that defended the Netherlands
The Coastal Defense Museum in Rotterdam is located in a genuine fortress on the coast of Hoek van Holland. The fortress was used to protect the important waterways against enemies. When you visit the fortress you can still see many things bearing witness of the past function of the fortress. For example there still are old cannons in the fortress. Today the fortress is used for a whole other reason; it is being used as a coastal defense museum. The Coastal Defense Museum offers a fun and cozy day out for the whole family, but is also very suitable for having a child's birthday parties.

A Fortress full of information
The Coastal Defense Museum offers alongside the excellent opportunities for kids to enjoy themselves a lot of information and materials that all are part of the fortress. The old cannons for example are still there and in the fortress it is evident how complete army units lived in it throughout the years. On the inside as well as on the outside the fortress is a wonderful experience that you just have to visit at least once in your life. Visiting the fortress is possible both with and without a tour guide. With a tour guide is more fun because an experience guide can tell you everything about anything that you see and possibly even overlook. Naturally you can also ask questions to the guide about the things you see.

Experience an exciting exploration
Children can participate in an exciting exploration in the fortress under guidance of an experienced guide. The exploration and a visit to the Coastal Defense Museum is also a very fun thing to do as an activity for a child's birthday party. The whole exploration takes about 2 hours and is available for a group starting from 10 persons in which the group is going to search for a treasure. It is a guaranteed day full of enjoyment for the children and during the exploration you as an adult also have the opportunity to accompany the children.

Finish the day with a nice dinner
After a day strolling around in the fortress you develop a good appetite; especially with the fresh sea breeze that is present in an around the fortress. In case you have an appetite for something to eat after visiting the fortress, you can visit one of the two excellent pancake restaurants that are situated close by. You can be sure that the children will not object to such a suggestion, but there are several other sorts of food and drinking establishments in the neighborhood as well. Please be aware that you can not pay by electronic means in the fortress.
