The Nederlands Fotomuseum (translation: Dutch Photography Museum) is one of the best photo museums in Europe. The museum shows exhibitions about photography and administers a multifaceted collection of negatives, transparencies and prints by more than eighty Dutch photographers. Developments in the 20th century
The photographs in the collection were created by photographers who worked as freelancers or on a commission basis in and outside the Netherlands. They were used by many different clients like the media, theatre companies, fashion houses, industry and the public sector. Major and minor events were reccrded in these photgraphs showing a lively image of the social developments in the 20th century.

The collection of the Nederlands Fotomuseum includes pictures of various 20th century subjects, such as the Second World War, the disastrous floods of 1953, the decolonisation of Indonesia and The Beatles. There are also photographs of Rotterdam, the harbours, almost every other place in the Netherlands and many foreign travels.

Exhibitions

Dutch Photographic Archive
The Nederlands Fotomuseum is also the national centre of expertise for photography and houses a photo restoration workshop and the Dutch Photographic Archive.
