The World Arts Museum (Wereldmuseum) is one of the best museums in the Netherlands and owns an impressive collection with art from Africa, America, Oceania, Asia and the Islamic heritage. The museum has been attracting people to Rotterdam for more than one hundred years!

The collection is one of the most important collections in Europe and parts of the collection, including the collection from Oceania, are world class! The collection from Oceania is one of the best and most complete collections of the world and includes the oldest shield of the Asmat of south-western New Guinea and the biggest Bisj Pole of the world. A Bisj Pole is a ritual artifact used by the Asmat people. Exhibitions
Besides the permanent exhibition the museum organizes two large theme exhibitions a year. After the renovation of the museum the first exhibition will be 'Oceania: Ritual signs and symbols of authority'. More than 200 objects will illustrate richness and aesthetic quality of the culture of Oceania. The entire museum will be transformed to buttress the theme: exciting event programs, unique merchandising and exquisite menus in the exclusive restaurant.
