Zuidplein: the Netherlands' biggest mall
Rotterdam Zuidplein is situated south of Rotterdam and covers an area of 55,000 square meters, which makes it the largest shopping center in the Netherlands. For a fun day out, this indoor shopping center is absolutely the place to be. About 155 stores with top brands and a great diversity in top brands, eateries and cafes will keep you warm and dry also on a rainy day. Are you looking for shoes, clothes, a drugstore, jewelry, sporting goods or electronics? If they don’t have it here, they don’t have it anywhere!. The shopping section is not located at ground level but on the first floor, at ground level there is a large parking parking with approximately 1400 parking spaces, a secure bicycle parking and a huge bus station.

10 million visitors per year
A shopping mall of that size was certainly at the time of the opening in 1972 quite unique. Before that time, Zuidplein was actually an open air street market. In 2003 the interior of Zuidplein mall was thoroughly renovated and currently attracts around 10 million visitors per year.

Season’s clearance tends to start a bit earlier in the Netherlands than in other European countries: Summer sale from mid June and winter sale from mid December.
