Alexandrium Rotterdam
The Alexandrium shopping centre is located in the North-Easterly part of Rotterdam, in the suburb called ‘Prins Alexander’. Prins Alexander has an elevation of minus 7 meters and in that sense it offers you 44.000 square meters of below sea level shopping! You can find approximately 210 stores in the Alexandrium which makes it one of biggest indoor (partially outdoor) shopping malls in the Netherlands. With a wide variety of stores Alexandrium is a real Walhalla for shopping addicts!
Alexandrium focuses on home decoration and interior design, but every kind of store can be found here - from kitchen megastores to a small high end hi-fi audio specialist (Multifoon HiFi). Don’t leave here before having seen the Rivièra Maison for all kinds of home gadgets and gifts. It has a unique location in the old Polderhuis. Great home decorations stores are Jencikova and i SASSi. A few other well-known retail chains are Mediamarkt (electronics), Xenos (Asia shopping at a bargain), Toys ‘R’ us (toys), Halfords (bikes and car accessories) and Albert Heijn (Holland’s leading supermarket).
Surely Alexandrium means shop until you drop, but if you are hungry there are several places to eat such as Burger King and La Place self-service restaurant. La Place has a huge outside terrace that is often frequented by business people having their lunch break. Another option to have a stylish drink is Grand-Café Hip (Kleine Beer 12) or have a Surinam snack at Chinny’s Zeppelin shaped lunchroom.
Tip : Season’s sales in Dutch stores tend to start a bit earlier than in other European countries: Summer Sale from late June and Winter Sale from mid December.

Shopping mall Alexandrium is located at the Korte Poolsterstraat in the east of Rotterdam. You can easily get there by taking the train from Central Station or the metro to Alexander.
If you come by car you can park your car in the Alexandrium or Noord parking. There are lots of parking spots, but it might still be difficult to find a free sport during the weekend!
