Shopping in Rotterdam’s city centre basically takes place between Central Station and Blaak station. There are many shopping areas in city center with the Lijnbaan as the most famous one. You can spend hours of shopping and when you follow our guide below you won't miss anything!The Hoogstraat area
From Station Blaak, cross the big market place called Binnenrotte. The Rotterdam Library is at your right hand side. Drink Rotterdam’s award winning cup of coffee at Bagels and Beans (Hoogstraat 129b). Enter Hoogstraat to the left. If you are looking for body care and health products have a look at De Tuinen (Hoogstraat 191).Visit department store V&D not only for their wide variety of goods but also for their roof top terrace La Place that offers a good lunch with a nice view on the city centre (Hoogstraat 185). Make a short detour from Hoogstraat to the left for alternative clothing at the Funky House (Korte Hoogstraat 15a) or for cosy home and kitchen decoration at Dille & Kamille (Korte Hoogstraat 22). Visit Cappucino (Korte Hoogstraat 23) and enjoy their extraordinary coffee specialties. Make a short detour from Hoogstraat to the right to Fleur (Rodezand 21) for female high fashion. For affordable men’s suits have a look at Suit Supply (Rodezand 9-13). Hoogstraat will directly lead you to the Beursplein area.The Beursplein area
Stroll around at Beursplein which is dominated by the huge green coloured World Trade Center. and don’t miss ‘The Mall’ where you can find stores like America Today (USA Apparel), Björn Borg (underwear), Gant Store (menswear), Lacoste, Hennes & Mauritz, Marlboro Classics (menswear) and Van Os Lederwaren (exclusive travel goods). For stylish shoes have a look at Dungelmann (Beursplein 19). If you need a break with an attitude, enjoy the sights and sounds of Rotterdam at Staal pavement café (Beursplein 33). Now it’s time to descend the stairs into the Beurstraverse.The Beurstraverse underpass

Beurstraverse also called the not that flattering ‘Koopgoot’ by the Dutch meaning ‘Shopping Gutter’. Beurstraverse underpasses Rotterdam’s most expensive street Coolsingel. There are all kinds of retailers in Beurstraverse, such as Douglas perfumery and many fashion shops like Esprit and Vanilia. If you are looking for a no nonsense department store with excellent value for money have a look at HEMA. If you’re looking for a gift shop don’t miss Expo. For posh coffee related gifts have a look at Simon Lévelt. Ascending the stairs from Beurstraverse you see the famous and classy department store De Bijenkorf at your right hand side. Now enter the Lijnbaan direction left. It will lead you to Binnenwegplein.The Binnenwegplein area
At lifestyle store E-plaza (Binnenwegplein 20d) game enthusiasts have a great selection of computer games and DVD’s. Your visit to Rotterdam isn’t complete without having tried Bram Ladage’s home made French fries. Try ‘patatje oorlog’, that is French fries with mayonnaise and peanut butter sauce. (Beursplein 24). The eight storey Selexyz Donner book store (Lijnbaan 150) has a huge collection of more than 250.000 titles displayed on more than 6000 square metres! Jansen & Jansen gift shop is indispensable if you are looking for an original birthday present (Binnenwegplein 62). Cross Karel Doormanstraat (direction Kentucky Fried Chicken) to make a short detour on Oude Binnenweg. Drink a beer from the draft at the 125 year old café Melief Bender (Oude Binnenweg 134b). For easy fit clothing and jewellery Buddha to Buddha (Oude Binnenweg 122) is the place to be. Now return to Karel Doormanstraat.The Karel Doormanstraat area
Coming from Binnenwegplein take Karel Doormanstraat to the right. Outdoor fans can gear up at Active Life (Karel Doormanstraat 398). A must see culinary gift shop is Oil&Vinegar (Karel Doormanstraat 457a). Van Oldenbarneveltstraat is a detour really worth taking as there are many
unique shops. Wendela van Dijk (van Oldenbarneveltstraat 105 and 146) is the number one shopstop for ladies designer labels. Don’t forget to enter Roush, a New York style ladies fashion shop (van Oldenbarneveltstraat 93). An insider tip for a culinary homemade style lunch is Mangiare (van Oldenbarneveltstraat 123a). The lunch menu differs from day to day and also Italian cooking workshops and catering service are offered in their basement. Now return to Karel Doormanstraat. Nan (Karel Doormanstraat 324) has a modern collection of very nice business style female suits. Strolling down Karel Doormanstraat, you pass the huge ‘Pathé’ cinema and ‘De Doelen’ Theatre at your left hand side. At the end of Karel Doormanstraat enter ‘Plaza’ shopping centre to the left to have a look at the Coccinelle shops (Plaza 12 and 20). Coccinelle has an exclusive collection of both shoes and kids wear. Enter Kruiskade opposite to Theatre ‘De Doelen’. Kruiskade is home of some Rotterdam’s most exclusive shops. Shoebaloo (Kruiskade 57c) is a quite expensive but unquestionably Rotterdam’s trendiest shoe shop. The Oger‘s (Kruiskade 63-65) classy store is the number one address in Rotterdam for Italian labelled men’s business suits, shirts and ties. Kruiskade leads you to Rotterdam’s main shopping street Lijnbaan.The Lijnbaan area
Walking down Kruiskade turn right onto Lijnbaan easily recognised by Roberto Botticelli’s exclusive Italian shoe store (Lijnbaan 50). After a 50 metres walk, make a short detour to the left into Korte Lijnbaan (opposite to Stadhuisplein). Visit Unox Soup Factory to have soups only! (Korte Lijnbaan 8). London City Club (Korte Lijnbaan 5) has a nice collection of both sporty polo’s and classic college wear. Continue your routing on Lijnbaan. Eat the famous triangle shaped sandwiches at Bakkerij Bart (Lijnbaan 67). Donna Guy (Lijnbaan 58) is the place to be for Paris Hilton wannabes. Turn left into Aert van Nessstraat and enter Farfalla (Aert van Nesstraat 54) for boutique women’s fashion and jewellery. Rotterdam’s well known shoe store Van den Assem (Aert van Nesstraat 38) has a vast choice of smart Italian footwear for both men and women! Aert van Nesstraat leads you directly to Meent easily recognisable by Rotterdam’s majestic town hall and McDonalds fast food restaurant on the left. Before entering Meent, bookworms find a mishmash of both used antique maritime books and books in the field of architecture, art and history of Rotterdam at de Slegte (Coolsingel 83).The Meent Area
Meent is a Rotterdam’s cultural street, where you won’t find any mainstream stores. Prego (Meent 118) offers every day but stylish clothing. Still not tired of shoe shops, Shoe Club (Meent 98) offers all kinds of footwear and exclusive leather bags in a modern ambience. Have the best apple pie in town at Dudok (Meent 88), in a Bauhaus-style café where both the cultural and business scene meets. Young and old take it
easy here and read their daily news paper drinking a coffee. The delicious apple pie is also available for takeaway in their bakery. Ventidue (Meent 89) has a nice female fashion collection and if you’re looking for a top end body care products and gifts, Sabon (Meent 54-56) is a must see. Sabon also includes a small beauty salon, the so called Sabon Spa. In summer people are lining up at Rotterdam’s award winning Italian ice cream at De IJssalon (Meent 69a) where a rare Harley Davidson ice motor bike is parked in front of their café. Take Pannekoekstraat to the right, the street named after Pannekoekenhuis Seth (Meent 20), where many sorts of pancakes are served. Toaster (Pannekoekstraat 38a) is a laid-back café where a nice breakfast is on the menu. Buy fashionable and trendy bijouterie at Pronkjuweel (Pannekoekstraat 35a-37a). If you’re interested in ultra-modern interior design, don’t miss Depot Rotterdam (Pannekoekstraat 66a). Pannekoekstraat leads you to the Hoogstraat area. OPENING HOURS Rotterdam City Center

You can reach city center by taking the train to Central Station or Blaak station. Central Station is close to the Lijnbaan area and Blaak station close to the Hoogstraat area.
If you come by car you just need to follow the signs ‘Centrum’ at the highway. There are different ways to get to the city center depening on where you are coming from. The closest parkings are in city center are Westblaak, Bijenkorf, Beurs, Schouwburgplein, Weena, Kruiskade, V&D - WTC and Plaza.
