Tuk Tuk Rotterdam
Tuk Tuks are motorized versions of the traditional rickshaw that are common in many Asian cities like Bangkok, Delhi and Bangalore. They take you quickly and safely through the streets of Rotterdam!
The small three-wheeled carts are very popular for short rides or for sightseeing the city. They can be hailed at the streets or you can find them at the Central Station or at the Coolsingel close to City hall. You could also order them by making a reservation by phone. The comfortable Tuk Tuks have got enough room to carry 3 people, or 1 or 2 people with some luggage.
Unlike the ones in Asia you don’t have to bargain with driver. The Tuk Tuks in Rotterdam work with fixed rates based on city zones and the number of passengers. One passenger traveling within one zone pays €3,50, two passengers within one zone: €5,00 and three passengers within one zone: €6,00. Each extra costs €3,00 regardless of the number of passengers. The city is divided in 7 zones: city center, Delfshaven, Blijdorp, Oude Noorden, West Kralingen, East Kralingen and Rotterdam West .
During the summer you could hire the Tuk Tuk for a tour through Rotterdam. The Tuk Tuk offers three different tours to explore all the interesting sights in the city. On the harbour tour you will be taken to the historical old harbour, the Spido, hotel New York, Delfshaven and other hot spots. On the Rotterdam highlights tour you will be taken to the best places of interest like Euromast, the Erasmus bridge, the historic museum and Delfshaven. And on the Architecture Rotterdam tour you will see great sights like the Euromast, the Erasmus bridge, the Blaak area, the cube houses, the museum park, the white house and hotel New York. All of the tours take one hour and an experience driver will tell you interesting things about the sights. Even though the Tuk Tuks are open-air you can also use them on a rainy day. They’ve got foldable rain covers that will keep you dry!
