Fast Ferry to Rotterdam
The Fast Ferry (or Waterbus in Dutch) is a fast boat connection between Rotterdam and other cities around Rotterdam like Krimpen aan den IJssel, Krimpen aan den Lek, Ridderkerk, Alblasserdam, Henrik Ido Ambacht, Papendrecht and Dordrecht.
With the Fast Ferry you will escape from the traffic jams during the rush hours and can you even take your bike on it for free! Of course, you can use the fast ferry to come Rotterdam if you stay in one of the cities around Rotterdam, but you can also take the fast ferry to explore tourist attractions like the old windmills in Kinderdijk or the historical town of Dordrecht! The Fast Ferry arrives and leaves Rotterdam at the Erasmusbrug in the middle of city center. It takes you about an hour from Dordrecht to Rotterdam and the ferry leaves every half hour, starting early in the morning till the early evening.
There are 3 different Fast Ferry lines:
1) Rotterdam <-> Krimpen aan den IJssel <-> Krimpen aan den Lek <-> Ridderkerk <-> Alblasserdam <-> Hendrik Ido Ambacht <-> Papendrecht (Westeind) <-> Dordrecht (Merwedekade)
2) Dordrecht (Hooikade) <-> Zwijndrecht <-> Dordrecht (Merwedekade) <-> Papendrecht (Veerdam) <-> Papendrecht (Oosteind) <-> Hollandse Biesbosch <-> Sliedrecht
3) Ridderkerk <-> Krimpen aan den Lek <-> Kinderdijk
This means you have to change line in Ridderkerk if you want to travel from Rotterdam to the old windmills in Kinderdijk. You can also decide to change line in Dordrecht and visit the national park Hollandse Biesbosch to enjoy the nature!
You can buy your tickets for the Fast Ferry when you enter the boat. There are special rates for children and senior citizens. If would like to visit several places on one day you can buy a day-ticket which allows you to travel all day between all stops of the Waterbus. A return ticket between Dordrecht and Rotterdam costs about 7 euros. For more information about departure times and rates you can check the Fast Ferry website!

There is a link to the Waterbus website. Unfortunately the website is only in Ducth which does not help forgein visitors
