ROTTERDAM BY LIGHTRAIL
The light rail in Rotterdam is called Randstalrail and connects The Hague to Rotterdam. Between The Hague and Rotterdam the light rail also stops in other surrounding cities like Voorburg, Leidschendam, Nootdorp, Pijnacker and Berkel en Rodenrijs. It's a very quick and comfortable way of travelling: the journey time from Rotterdam to The Hague is 30 minutes. There are several stops in Rotterdam: Rotterdam Hofplein, Rotterdam Melanchthonweg and Rotterdam WIlgenplas.
Rotterdam Hofplein station si the last stop of the lightrail and is located in the middle of the center close to central station. At the end of 2009 the lighrail will connect to Rotterdam Central Station and in 2010 you can even travel till station Slinge in the south of Rotterdam.
Schedule
The light rail leaves every 15 minutes during weekdays and every 30 minutes during evenings and weekends. From the end of 2009 the light rail will leave every 10 minutes during weekdays and every 20 minutes during evenings and weekends. The first train leaves around 05:45 from The Hague and the last train leaves around 00:45 from Rotterdam.Tickets
You can use the OV chipkaart to travel at the light rail. There are sales offices at The Hague and Rotterdam Central station but at the other stations you can only buy from a vending machine. More information about the OV chipkaart can be found at the OV chipkaart page. .
