Amusement park Madurodam is a miniature city in The Hague with models of many well-known buildings and landmarks of the Netherlands. It's one of the major tourist attractions in the Netherlands and especially in summer Madurodam can get pretty crowded with lots of tourist from the Netherlands and abroad.
Madurodam displays models of well-known landmarks in the Netherlands such as the Erasmus Bridge, the Euromast, the Binnenhof parliament buildings, the Maeslant storm barrier, the Royal palaces, the city of Amsterdam with the canals, Schiphol airport and the Muiderslot Castle. You can also get an insight into typical Dutch villages, farms, parks, bridges and windmills. In fact, Madurodam is the miniature version of The Netherlands. Most models are built at a 1:25 scale.
Madurodam is an outdoor park, but on a rainy day, they offer some indoor attractions as well. 'Hof van Nederland' is an interactive so called 4D show about the history of the Netherlands and at 'Zo groot is Oranje' you can see a movie about the Dutch national soccer team and test your soccer skills at an indoor field with goals. Some miniature buildings at the Madurodam park are interactive and can be moved or started by pushing a button. Kids will love it!
The biggest model in Madurodam is Schiphol airport fully equipped with terminals, the control tower, runways and all sorts of airplanes. The model railway with a length of 4 kilometers is the longest model railroad in the Netherlands and includes stations, bridges and you might see the train with which you traveled to Madurodam! All models in Madurodam are hand made in their own workshop and every year new models are added to the city. They even grow models of real trees by frequently pruning the stores. Trees that normally grow up to fifteen meters are kept only 60 centimeters tall this way.
When you visit Madurodam miniature city you will explore the Netherlands in one single day! If it's raining cats and dogs, you might want to visit the indoor minitiature city in Rotterdam, called Miniworld in Rotterdam.

" Lovely place to visit. Would definitely go back. Need a good few hours to go round and see all the little buildings and display. Look out for the truck, you put a euro in and it delivers a tiny pair of souvinier ceramic clogs."
" Nice playgrounds. Some kids love the minatures, others don't care that much."
" My go to annual pilgrimage. Very impressed they will update the attractions after 70 years"
" An excellent park at the open air to visit with children and spend 3-4 hours there. You can see all of famous places of Netherlands at once. We walked with kids 30-40 minutes from the Central train station and another 20 minutes toward to the North Sea coast."
" A few fun place for kids and adults of all ages. It is neat to see all of the major Dutch landmarks in a small scale. Additionally, some pretty cool and interactive way to learn Dutch history! Fire the cannons! Just be aware in the winter time some of the trains and boats might not be running. It is disappointing though that parking is 8.50 Euro."
