Kunsthal offers a broad spectrum of exhibitions, ranging from Dutch painters, forgotten cultures and fascinating photos to new age design and contemporary art. During the last couple of years, Kunsthal has had exposition themes such as impressionism, architecture, lingerie, Alberto Giacometti, Leonardo da Vinci, Glory of Rome, Blackfoot Indians, Chinese Jewellery, Soccer Club Feyenoord and Playboy. One of the most successful exhibitions of Kunsthal was the exhibition on the work of Jean Paul Gaultier in 2013, which attracted hundreds of thousands of visitors. At regular intervals, Kunsthal Rotterdam organizes fun exhibitions which are also suitable for children. Besides the regular exhibitions, Kunsthal offers at least one special family exhibition every year. In 2007, the exhibition about dinosaurs with moving scale models a great success. In 2008, kids were digging in a sand-box to discover archaeological treasures during the exhibition of the Glory of Rome. In 2010, the family exhibition theme was Tour de France, which started in Rotterdam during that summer.
Not only the Kunsthal exhibitions are fascinating, the Kunsthal building is a work of art in its own right. The exposition centre is made of classic building materials such as marble and parquet which are combined with basic materials such as corrugated sheet, raw concrete, steel grids and unfinished timber. The sloping Kunsthal floors provide a seamless connection between the three large exhibition halls and two intimate galleries. On a sunny day, the Kunsthal Café offers a great outdoor terrace. The Kunsthal Shop offers nice souvenirs at a fair price.

" Probably the Kunsthal is an icon of contemporary architecture, but the collection isn't in tune with contemporary art."
" Always worth a visit. The building is a bit confusing and not my taste (as is most of the rest of what OMA/Rem Koolhaas designed), but most of the exhibitions are fantastic. Free entrance with the MuseumCard!"
" The exhibition I went to was wonderful. However, it was filled with extremely loud teenagers that were running around constantly and there was only one staff member around to supervise the entire exhibition."
" Great art place with a wide viarity of expositions, great food too"
" Modern art space with no permanent collection but rather multiple rotating exhibits. Means there's always something new to see. I did find the entry price a little steep for the size"
