Metropolis: open air music festival

The Metropolis music festival at South Park in Rotterdam (opposite Ahoy convention centre) is similar to Parkpop in The Hague. Most bands that perform at Metropolis are new kids in town, but in the past many of those bands had their break through at Metropolis Rotterdam! During previous Metropolis editions, bands like The Smashing Pumpkins, The Prodigy, Kula Shaker, Wu-Tang Clan, Train, The Strokes, Interpol, The Killers, Pete and The Pirates, Moke, Omar Souleyman, The Strange Boys, The XX, Kubus & Bang Bang, Radiohead and the Vaccines have all performed at Metropolis open air in Rotterdam, before they became famous in the rest of the world.

The Metropolis festival has a line-up of more than 20 national and international artists that either perform on several stages. Metropolis Rotterdam is a chill-out experience and a guarantee for a nice day out with music and entertainment. Every year, the Metropolis festival in Rotterdam is visited by over 40.000 party people. The music style varies from rock, metal, indie to hiphop, punk and dance. The Metropolis festival is held at Zuiderpark next to Rotterdam's multifunctional centre Ahoy in the South of Rotterdam, near the Zuidplein Mall. You can easily reach Ahoy Rotterdam by Metro or Bus, stop Zuidplein. Plan your trip at www.9292.nl. It's free of charge. To travel by public transport in Rotterdam you must purchase a travel chip cardfirst.

Metropolis Festival by car

If you come by car, follow directions to Ahoy on the Ring Motorway (A15 South - exit Zuidplein/Ahoy). You can pay to park your car in one of the parkings of the Zuidplein Mall. When there's no parking space available you can use one of the park & ride locations such as the Slinge location. When travelling to Ahoy, you might encounter some traffic nuisance, especially at major events! Parking at Ahoy costs €12,50. If this parking lot is full, you can pay to park in the Zuidplein Mall garage. From there it’s a 5 minute walk to Ahoy.
