Having a drink and some finger food is the Rotterdam way to relax after some ‘tiresome’ shopping… Lay back after work or during the weekend and people watch in a trendy outdoor atmosphere. Popular outdoor eating areas in Rotterdam

Most restaurants with terrace are located at Stadhuisplein (the square facing Rotterdam City Hall) and within the Old Harbour (visit party hot spot Café Plan C). Stadhuisplein is always very crowded with tourists due to its central location. In summer there's always a party going on, usually with loud beats until early in the early morning at the Après Skihut and Get Back, all serving dinner on their outdoor terraces. The nostalgic Old Harbour is a popular nightlife area as well with many outdoor eating areas, usually visited by students. The terraces here are always crowded, so have dinner or a drink with a nice view at the historic ships and the Cube Houses.

Hotel New York, Cafe Rotterdam and the nhow Bar offer outdoor cafe terraces with a great view on the river Maas and the huge vessels sailing by. For peaceful outdoor eating on a waterfront terrace, don't miss De Tuin and the Boathouse Kralingen, located just outside the city centre but with a lovely view at the Lake Kralingen. The Harbour Club Rotterdam terrace is located in the beautiful and green park near the Euromastand on the cafe terrace of Staal under the World Trade Centre Rotterdam, you can watch the shoppers. BliKis located within the Lloyd Quarter and boasts a small sandy beach with a view at the huge ocean-going vessels. On the wooden terrace of Prins van Terbregge in Hillgersberg in the North of Rotterdam you can enjoy the view on the river Rotte. The terraces of Zalmhuis and Prachtig have recently been rewarded as the best outdoor eating area of the Netherlands, due to their great view at the river Maas. Last but not least, if you like a waterfront view, the pretty sandy seaside terrace of Villa on the Beach in Hoek van Holland ist a must visit!
