Sights in Rotterdam: Historic monuments and modern architecture
Rotterdam has nearly completely been destroyed during World War II, because of the strategic role of the port. Nevertheless, some very interesting historical sights can be found in Rotterdam, such as the beautiful Rotterdam Town Hall. But the unique thing about Rotterdam is that in addition to the historic sights several modern buildings have been built that have become important sights in Rotterdam as well.

    Historic sights in Rotterdam
The Old Harbour and the historic Delfshaven, where many VOC ships were built, still reflect this pre-war atmosphere and are very popular with tourists. The Maritime Quarter (Scheepvaartkwartier) is an important sight as well: here you'll find most monuments of Rotterdam. An absolute must see and one of the best sights in Rotterdam is Hotel New York located at the Wilhelminapier, which is a great sight on its own.

    Modern sights in Rotterdam
Sure, many Dutch cities have beautiful historic sights, but the combination with ultra modern architecture which you can find everywhere in Rotterdam makes Rotterdam one of a kind! The Erasmus Bridge and the Cube Houses are the best examples of great modern sights that you can find in Rotterdam.
