Rotterdam: City of Sports!
Rotterdam is also called the City of Sports, because there are many big sports events organized. For example there are major sporting events such as the Rotterdam Marathon, the World Tennis Tournament, Six-Days Cycling, the World Port Tournament Baseball and the CHIO horse riding event. Recently new sports events have been added to the event calendar: the World Ports Classic (cycling) and the Rotterdam Open (tennis) are likely to grow into major sport events as well.

Join the sports events yourself
There are also a number of smaller sports events which you can join yourself. Besides the marathon you can also participate in the Bruggenloop (running event over 5 bridges in Rotterdam), the Ladiesrun (running event for women) and the Wednesday Night Skate.

Every weekend sport in Rotterdam
Besides the annual major sports events there are big sports events organized in Rotterdam almost every week. Rotterdam is the only city in the Netherlands with three professional football teams: Sparta, Excelsior and Feyenoord. You can visit the Feyenoord Stadium to see a game but it´s open for stadium tours as well. Furthermore, Rotterdam has got teams playing in the premier leagues of baseball, hockey, basketball, tennis and volleyball. The baseball team of Neptunes are one of the best teams in Europe and have been Dutch champions many times.
